Grandma & Poppi, Grandma Bev and Alan, Lars, Anya and Heidi all went to Disney for a long Halloween weekend. We stayed at the incredible Animal Kingdom Lodge and had a blast! Here are loads of photos to prove it. PHOTO GALLERY
Alan, Lars, Anya, Heidi and Grandma Bev all arrived early in the morning from Raleigh. We checked into the hotel, ate lunch and went for a swim and hung out by the pool. Around 1:30pm we went to the lobby to see if Grandma and Poppi had arrived and yep, there they were. We all took a little nap and got settled into our rooms. Around 4:30pm we went to Boma for dinner then off to the Magic Kingdom for Mickey's not so scary Halloween party. At the park we had a great time on the rides and trick or treating. We watched the fireworks and the parade. It was great fun and we were up until just before midnight.
parade, splash mountain, jungle ride, rocket ride, toy story, fireworks and more
Animal Kingdom Park - just past the tree of life there was a wonderful group playing drums. We all stopped and participated in fun, then off to a few of the kiddie rides. We then played at the playground and gave Pluto a big hug. The next ride was the Dinosaur (a crazy jeep ride that takes us back 65 million years, it was fun, scary and thrilling). Then off to the Kali river rapids, We were all able to ride the Kali River Rapids. There was a warning sign that read "Warning: you may get wet, but you will get drenched". Oh how true that was, we were all drenched down to our nubs. :-) Grandma, Poppi and the kids went on the incredible Kilimanjaro Safari. (Climb aboard your open-sided safari vehicle for an exciting expedition for the entire family. Watch animals roam freely across acres of savannah, rivers and rocky hills. Since animals have minds of their own, no two safaris are ever the same. You may even catch a glimpse of one of the many baby animals that were recently born in Disney's Animal Kingdom® Park. ).
Alan, Grandma Bev and I rode Expedition Everest (Take on the treacherous terrain of the towering Forbidden Mountain in this high-altitude, high-speed train adventure. Nail-biting hairpin turns hurl you forward toward the peak and then, just when you think it couldn't get more thrilling - backward! The mountain's full of surprises: Beware the snarling beast who watches over his domain... the Yeti!).
Dinner: Mickey's Backyard BBQ (We joined Mickey, Minnie and the gang along with some merrymakin' hosts, Sarsaparilla Sal and Tumbleweed, for a hearty country picnic. There was a full line-up of line-dancin', western-singin', rope-trickin' and kid-friendly entertainment, with some foot-stompin' in the outdoor pavilion on BBQ night. There was an all-you-care-to-eat buffet featuring BBQ pork ribs, Smoked BBQ Chicken and hot dogs with all the trimmings. It was a knee-slappin' good time!)
Disney Studios - Alan, Heidi and the kids enjoyed breakfast with characters (Jo Jo, Goliath, and Little Einstein's) We then hit just a couple of rides (star wars and tower of terror), then it was off to Epcot for our lunch reservation.
EPCOT - Akershus Royal Banquet Hall princess lunch. We were greeted and had a photo with Belle, then during our meal Cinderella, Aurora, Jasmine and Ariel all came by to say hello. Yep, we got pictures with them all and it was a fantastic meal too. Later in the afternoon Alan and I were fortunate enough to experience Dive Quest (a totally unique diving experience! Epcot Dive Quest features a 6-million-gallon indoor aquarium with more than 65 species of marine life, including sharks, huge sea turtles, playful eagle rays and schools of colorful tropical fish.). We had a back stage tour of the aquarium and then we were able to dive in it. We swam by all of our family as they watched through the windows in the observation area. It was breathtaking. After the dive we all had dinner at Coral Reef, which also has windows into the aquarium. Again a fabulous meal.
It was departure day, so we slept in and then packed our bags. We then headed to meet everyone at Boma for breakfast. It was a fantastic trip and there are loads of pictures to prove it.
