Wow, what a great vacation. The kids and I drove up to Long Island on a Monday. It was about an 11 hour drive, including a pit stop in Baltimore to see Charm City Cakes "Ace of Cakes". Lars and I loved that show, wish it was still on air. Tuesday we just hung out with Grandma and late that evening our cousins arrived. Wednesday morning it was up and out to Manhattan for 2 days. We stayed at the Marriott downtown and our rooms were to die for. It was a 2 room suite with wall to wall windows on the 35th floor. We had a view of the Hudson and the Statue of Liberty. We enjoyed the 4th roaming the city and a quick subway ride over to Hoboken, NJ, so our cousins could have an additional US State under foot. While there in Hoboken we found out that the "Cake Boss" bakery was nearby, so we walked over. They had just closed, but we snapped a quick pic. Later that evening we were out on the Hudson, watching fireworks! We were up and about on Thursday and went to Battery park. The kids played in the fountain and had a portrait done. We then headed over to American Girl Doll for a FANTASTIC lunch. Then the older girls, Grandma and the dolls, went back to the hotel. The rest of us walked around the city and through Central Park. Friday was back to Long Island and hanging out at Grandmas. The kids played in the pools and on Saturday cousins Wade and Frankie came over to play. We also were able to visit with Stan and Carol. It was very relaxing and nice to see everyone. Sunday, we were off to Marg's beach house. Oh that was fun and relaxing all at once. This was a great trip and it was good to see everyone. We missed Alan all week, but we were heading home Monday. The drive home took about 12 1/2 hours as we hit traffic in several areas and the last few hours were nothing but storms.
