April 1997 - July 1999

While we're here, we have to work (BOOO!). Oh well, you can't have everything, right? Here's a brief description of what we do, and where we work.

I am doing office temp work hoping to get even more computer experience. I have worked a few months in the HR and Training department at a well known brewery (Fullers), and I worked a few weeks at the Head Office Marketing Dept. of Virgin Cinemas for a few weeks, at Christies Auciton house for a few weeks and various other office jobs. I've been getting all sorts of great exposure and experience. I  have to make sure I am marketable upon our return to California. I will be doing temp work for the remainder of our time here in London (July 1999).

From November 97 until July 98, I was working at a watersports store, located in central London, in the scuba diving department . I learned quite a bit about the watersports industry and was also fortunate enough to be asked to create and design the company web site :   (as of May 99, I am no longer updating this site and left it to someone else)

Alan and I have now been certified advanced divers and also purchased the top of the line equipment.
One day we will live the dream:
Step One - Learning to dive.  done
Step Two
- Learning about dive shops and what is involved in running one.       done
Step Three
- Learning about all equipment and getting advanced certifications )       done.
Step Four - Begin being an instructor, analyzing the cost involved in running shop and saving money.
Step Five - Finding the ideal location in the world and set up the business (dive shop / Bed and Breakfast) or just travel. Let's see how it goes.

Well, for those of you who didn't know, I work at Latitude Communications. I was fortunate enough to be transferred over here to get the U.K. office up and running from a technical standpoint. I perform project management, installation, training, and support for my customers, and I also provide MIS (computer help) support for the office. It's a lot of work, but it's great experience.

One of the best things about my job is the location of work. It's incredible! Our office is located in Piccadilly Circus, which is the heart of London. I enjoy going outside, and hearing people speak in different languages. It's very metropolitan. Here's a picture of the office that I work in. It's the building on the left. Just think: Every work day, I walk through that door that's in the middle arch (after I've gotten my donuts around the corner).

Another cool aspect of where I'm located is that I'm close to Heidi One of the best things about my job is the location of work. It's incredible! The office isn't far from where Heidi works when she is in the city, so we actually get to commute together. There's an old British saying "A couple that rides the tube together stays together." I know, it's pretty weak.
